Overview
Kunal Vohra (“I”, “me”, or “this site”) operates https://kunalvohra.com. I built this site myself and I don’t sell your personal information to anyone. This policy covers what gets collected when you browse the site, sign in to comment on a blog post, or fill out a form, and it covers the third-party services (analytics, sign-in, and advertising) that the site relies on to run.
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
- Contact and lead forms (the contact page, the “Write With Me” form on the blog, and similar forms) - your name, email address, and whatever message you write.
- Newsletter signup - your email address.
- Blog comments - the text of your comment, plus the name, email, and profile photo attached to the Google account you sign in with. See Blog Comments & Likes below for detail.
Information collected automatically
- Standard web analytics - pages viewed, approximate location (country/city level, derived from IP address), device and browser type, and referring site - via Google Analytics.
- Which blog posts get read, used only in aggregate to see what’s worth writing more of.
- Standard server logs (IP address, timestamps, user agent) kept briefly by the hosting and analytics infrastructure for security and debugging.
Blog Comments & Likes
Comments and likes on blog posts require signing in with a Google account, handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google product). I never see or store your Google password - Google handles authentication directly, and the site only receives your Google account’s user ID, display name, and profile photo URL.
When you post a comment, your display name, profile photo, comment text, and the time you posted it are stored in a Firestore database and shown publicly under that blog post - anyone visiting the post can read comments, whether or not they’re signed in. When you like a post, your account is recorded as having liked that one post (to prevent double counting); like counts are public, individual likes are not displayed against your name.
You can delete your own comment or like at any time from the blog post itself. To request removal of anything you can’t delete yourself, contact me using the details at the bottom of this page.
Cookies & Advertising
This site uses cookies and similar technologies (like local storage) for a few purposes:
- Analytics (Google Analytics) - to understand traffic and how the site is used.
- Sign-in (Firebase Authentication) - to keep you signed in on the blog so you don’t have to re-authenticate to comment or like a post.
- Advertising (Google AdSense) - ads may appear on blog pages only (never elsewhere on the site). Google and its advertising partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalised advertising through Google Ads Settings or www.aboutads.info/choices.
Most browsers let you block or delete cookies. Blocking cookies used for sign-in will prevent commenting and liking posts; blocking analytics or ad cookies won’t affect your ability to read anything on the site.
How We Use Information
- To respond to messages sent through a contact or lead form.
- To send the newsletter, if you signed up for it - never sold or shared, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
- To display your name, photo, and comment publicly when you choose to comment on a post.
- To understand which content and pages are useful, in aggregate.
- To serve and, where enabled, personalise ads on blog pages, and to measure ad performance.
- To keep the site secure and prevent abuse (for example, rate-limiting comment posting).
Third-Party Services
This site relies on the following third parties, each with their own privacy policy:
- Google Analytics & Google Ads (privacy policy) - traffic analytics and conversion tracking.
- Google AdSense (how Google uses data) - advertising on blog pages.
- Firebase (Google) (privacy policy) - Google sign-in and storage for blog comments and likes.
- Resend - transactional email delivery for contact and newsletter forms.
- Panicle Tech - Kunal Vohra’s own backend, used to store form submissions and blog analytics described above. Not shared outside Panicle Tech / Kunal Vohra.
Data Retention
Comments and likes are kept until you delete them or ask me to. Contact form and newsletter submissions are kept as long as reasonably needed to respond or to run the newsletter, and are deleted on request. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics’ standard retention settings.
Your Rights & Choices
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export the personal information this site holds about you, or to object to certain uses of it (for example, personalised ads). To exercise any of these, use the contact details below - I’ll respond directly rather than through an automated process.
Children’s Privacy
This site is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information here, contact me and I’ll remove it.
Changes to This Policy
I may update this policy as the site changes - for example, if a new feature starts collecting different information. Material changes will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
